Round 13 of the 2025/26 Nan Fung Group | AIRSIDE Hong Kong Premiership is done and dusted, and we have a new leader at the top of the Men’s Premiership, HKFC Natixis Club, while Societe Generale Valley RFC Women are still on top of the log, which is where they have been all season.
With just two regular season rounds remaining, there is a break between the penultimate Round 14 next weekend and the final Round 15 due to Chinese New Year holidays.
Women’s Premiership
Clement Shield/VetiVa Gai Wu Falcons 58-21 Causeway Sandy Bay
Clement Shield/VetiVa Gai Wu Falcons completed a bonus point win over Causeway Sandy Bay, but the visitors did well to rack up 21 points in the loss.
It was a milestone weekend for Gai Wu’s Lam Ka Wai, who reached 100 caps for the Gai Wu club, and it was also their Club Day over the weekend.
Clement Shield/VetiVa Gai Wu Falcons travel to play second-placed USRC Tigers next weekend.
Kowloon Rugby Club 0-51 Kroll USRC Tigers Women
Kroll USRC Tigers Women followed up their win last week with a complete defensive shutout of Kowloon while picking up a bonus point in a comprehensive 51-0 victory.
The second-placed side on the log was up 31-0 at halftime and completed the job in the second period with an additional 20 points, but the clean sheet on defence will please the team. They have only let in one try across the past two wins.
The 5-point haul also means they have secured a home semifinal, as they can't be caught by the chasing teams.
HKFC Natixis Ice 19-45 Societe Generale Valley RFC
The defending champions, Societe Generale Valley RFC, made it 3 wins from 3 over their rivals HKFC Natixis Ice with a hard-fought 19-45 victory to claim the Racecourse Rumble win.
Valley converted a 19-14 lead at halftime to pull away with an additional 17 points in the second half while nearly shutting out the hosts defensively by allowing just the one try.
Grace Hamilton scored the first try in just the third minute for Valley RFC and added a second later in the half, with Tanya Dhar scoring the side’s third try.
The two HKFC first-half tries came from some of the team’s usual suspects, with both Zoe Teece and Octavia Nanai-Iafeta adding to their personal tallies this season. Wallaroos Lori Cramer converted both scores.
Jamie Bourke added the sole HKFC 5 points in the second half for the defeated side, while Dhar grabbed her second try, Crystal Mayes (a run in from the halfway line), and Hamilton completed her hat-trick of tries in the win.
The loss saw HKFC Natixis Ice slip to 4th in the standings on 34 points, with the Clement Shield/VetiVa Gai Wu Falcons edging ahead of them on 36 points.
Valley RFC have a 7-point cushion over the second-placed Kroll USRC Tigers Women. A win on the weekend would secure Valley RFC the League Winners trophy.
Men’s Premiership
HKU Sandy Bay RFC 41-31 Milwaukee Hong Kong Scottish
The battle of the bottom two sides in the Men’s Premiership saw last year’s champions come out on top, beating their nearest rivals on the log by a ten-point margin at home.
Milwaukee Hong Kong Scottish were hoping to secure just a third win of the season, but it was the hosts who managed to get their second win this campaign, and now both sides are even on 17 log points.
Sandy Bay’s Dean Nieuwoodt’s put in a real shift, with 16 tackles, 8 carries and two tries in the win.
HKFC Natixis Club 32-24 Societe Generale Valley RFC
A big win for HKFC Natixis Club as they toppled the log-leaders Societe Generale Valley RFC in the Racecourse Rumble. The result means that HKFC now lead the Men’s Premiership with Valley losing the top spot for the first time this season with only two regular rounds remaining.
Societe Generale Valley RFC had led at the break at HKFC 17-7 thanks to three team tries, including one each for number 8 Nicholas Brown and left wing Viliame Naivalu. Maddison Hunting scored the HKFC try, and Matteo Avitabile added the extras for the hosts.
In the second period, HKFC conceded one more converted score to trail 7-24 but then took control and added two tries to Bryn Byrne in his second game for the club, and Avitabile tallied 15 points in the half for a match haul of 17.
HKFC sit on 49 log points, two ahead of Societe Generale Valley RFC.
Kowloon Rugby Club 36-42 Kroll USRC Tigers RFC
These two teams have had high-scoring games across the season, but it's the Kroll USRC Tigers RFC who edged the head-to-head 2-1 with a win on Kowloon’s Club Day.
The win means Kroll USRC Tigers RFC are now level on points with Kowloon on the league table, with Tigers sitting on third position with a better points difference. Kowloon have now suffered back-to-back defeats over the past two rounds. Their next round clash sees them travel to the new log leaders, HKFC, where they have secured a win already this season.
In a milestone 50th club anniversary season, Kowloon’s Adam Best was also celebrating 100 caps in the weekend's defeat.
