ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2025/2026

Following the Hong Kong China Rugby Annual General Meeting (AGM), the organisation’s Annual Report 2025/2026 is now available to download.

Hong Kong China Rugby (HKCR) has confirmed the election of Rod Lai as its new Chairman, following a vote of Member clubs at the 70th Annual General Meeting held at Hong Kong Football Club on Tuesday 29 September 2026.

Rod Lai takes up the two-year term with immediate effect as HKCR enters its most significant year to date. Rod joins a Board strengthened by three independent directors. Angad Banga and Susheela Rivers were confirmed as new Independent Directors earlier this month, while Andrew Huang was reappointed for a further one-year term, bringing additional commercial, financial and governance expertise to the leadership team.

“City RFC has been part of my life for over 20 years, and I have spent six of those years on the HKCR Board,” said incoming Chairman, Rod Lai. “I am excited to work closely with Sarah Hooper and the Board from day one to generate revenue, empower our clubs, and grow the game across the Greater Bay Area to build a sustainable rugby ecosystem for Hong Kong.”

Richard Cooke and Ricky Cheuk will remain on the Board as an Elected Director, after being re-elected for a two-year term.  Two remaining Elected Director roles will be filled by the newly appointed Board of Directors in accordance with the terms within the Articles of Association.

We also want to put on record our thanks to outgoing Chairman, Christopher Brooke, for his four years of dedicated service, as well as to directors Kim Boreham, Brett Free and Gill Meller, for their leadership, commitment and contribution to Hong Kong China Rugby.
